Homeowners surrounding the Doral Golf Resort & Spa have a tree-mendous problem with Donald Trump’s refurbishment of the lush Florida property — they say his newly-planted palm trees are blocking their scenic views.
Not only that — the noise from maintenance crews are driving them nuts, they say.
“[My members] call me and send me emails to tell me, ‘I can’t sleep,’ ” homeowners’ association president Hugo Ledezma told Doral city officials
, the Miami Herald reports.
The billionaire developer, known for his world-class golf courses, insists he planted the trees for three reasons — to protect the homeowners from flying golf balls, to muffle the sound of the workers and for aesthetic value.
“What happens is when you are on, as an example, the first green on the gold course, you are staring at houses with laundry hanging out their window in some cases. It’s not appropriate for the finest resort in the country,” Trump told the Herald.
But Antonio Pardo — who owns one of the homes that go for $500,000 and up — told the paper: “The homeowners association does not allow us to do that [hang laundry outside] and they are very strict about what the rules are.’’
Trump’s daughter Ivanka said the resort will look into purchasing electric vehicles to minimize noise, but said the landscaping was perfectly legal — a claim the city’s planning and zoning director concurs with.
“I am going to reach out and coordinate a meeting with the homeowners,” Ivanka Trump told the Herald "This is not a widespread issue …’’
