Mesmerizing Video Shows World's Largest Domino Spiral (Video)

It took 12 extremely patient, dexterous people eight days to carefully place 300,000 dominoes that, at the exact right moment, set off waves of movement and nailed the world’s largest domino spiral, Yahoo! News reported.

Sinners Domino Entertainment in Germany did the work for the 10-minute payoff of watching their dominoes fall down, and they made the Guinness Book of World Records for their efforts.

Although there were more than 275,000 dominoes in the setup, it was the 55,555 dominoes in a spiral that took the Guinness record for Most Dominoes in a Spiral.

It seems like the payoff for all that hard work should take more than 10 minutes. But it’s pretty clear people enjoy watching the almost hypnotic display as the dominoes topple – the YouTube video has more than 1.2 million views.

The German domino company’s website said they begin several months prior to an event to do detailed plans of each section, decorations, and special effects. They use 30 different colors to make designs.

The company holds the official world records for the longest domino wall and the largest 3-D domino pyramid, according to its website.

World records are always fun to track, both from the admiration for overcoming aspects but also for the “what?” and “are you kidding?” aspects. The Telegraph compiled a list in pictures of the “weird and wacky new entries” for 2013.

Included in that list is “The World’s Largest Biceps” measuring in at 25.5 inches flexed and 24.5 inches not flexed. Then there’s the “Oldest Gymnast” who is 86 years old and still competing. (Place that one in the “jealous” category.) And don’t forget the “Tallest Living Dog,” a Great Dane in Michigan who stands at 44 inches high. Wouldn’t want to clean up that yard.
