David Cassidy says he's "going to die" if he takes another drink of alcohol.

The admission comes just days after the 63-year-old Cassidy was sentenced to three months in rehab and five years' probation earlier this week following his no contest guilty plea to his third DUI charge in as many years.

The former '70s teen idol and star of "The Partridge Family" discussed his alcohol addiction in an interview with CNN's Piers Morgan Wednesday night, telling the British-born journalist, "If I take another drink, I'm going to die, physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually. I'm dead."

"You know, they say it's a slippery slope," Cassidy continued. "It's not a slippery slope. It's from 12 to 6 on the clock and the whole face is ice. One sip, one drink, because there is no such a thing, not to an alcoholic. You have one and you're — you're done. I'd be done."

Cassidy's most recent DUI charge stems from a January incident near Los Angeles International Airport, where he was reportedly stopped for making an illegal right turn on a red light and later blew a 0.19 percent — more than twice California's 0.08 legal limit — on a blood alcohol level test.

Prior to January's LAX incident, Cassidy had been arrested in August of 2013 in Schodack, N.Y., after reportedly failing to dim his car lights at a police checkpoint and subsequently blowing a .10 in the Breathalyzer device, according to local authorities. The legal limit to drive in New York State is .08.

"I am most definitely an alcoholic," Cassidy added in the Morgan interview. "And the interesting thing about it and the way you end up with multiple DUIs — I never got arrested for anything until I was basically 60 years old. And I have very, very strong values about what I am and who I am."

As for his latest arrest, Cassidy added, "I had been lying to myself and consequently lying to everyone else about my disease."

Cassidy reportedly began drinking in 2002 and with time his condition worsened, CNN noted. This will be the former teen idol's third stint in rehab.
