Former soccer player David Beckham is the No. 1 underwear model of the century, or so says fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger.

“We all wish we looked like David Beckham at the end of the day,” Hilfiger told TMZ in an interview. “He’s like the underwear model of the century.”

The 38-year-old has modeled underwear for Armani and H&M, including Super Bowl ads for H&M, but hasn't actually modeled for Hilfiger.

“David Beckham is an incredible, photogenic personality. He’s a magnet. You very much move towards him,” Nicolas Winding Refn, who directed one of the most recent ad campaigns for H&M, said, told the Daily Mail.

Beckham, who retired from soccer last year, recently returned from a two-week trip to Brazil, where he traveled for a BBC documentary, according to the Daily Mail. The documentary is set to be screened in June, tying in with the World Cup.

Reaction on Twitter to Hilfiger’s comment was mixed.

Here's the H&M underwear ad starring Beckham that ran during the 2014 Super Bowl.
