Former NFL safety Darren Sharper has been charged with drugging and raping two women, and prosecutors asked a Los Angeles judge on Friday to raise his bail to $10 million because of allegations made in other states.

Sharper, 38, was expected to be arraigned on two counts of rape by use of drugs, four counts of using a controlled substance, and one count of possession of a controlled substance, The Los Angeles Times reported, citing a statement from the office of L.A. County District Attorney Jackie Lacey.

Sharper could face up to 30 years in jail if found guilty of all the charges, which are felonies.

According to the DA's statement, on two separate occasions, on Oct. 30 and Jan. 14, Sharper met two women at a West Hollywood nightclub, and allegedly invited them to a party. Each time, he told them he had to stop by his L.A. hotel room to pick something up and invited both women up.

"While there, he allegedly gave each woman a shot," the motion states, according to SI.com. Each woman passed out. Jane Doe #1 allegedly woke up naked hours later with Sharper sexually assaulting her. The second woman allegedly awoke and "interrupted his actions."

Sharper is accused of using zolpidem and morphine to sedate women. He was arrested Jan. 17 and released on $200,000 bail. He faces similar investigations in Arizona, Nevada, and Louisiana.

A five-time Pro Bowler, Sharper played in the NFL from 1997 to 2010, mostly with the Green Bay Packers. He played in two Super Bowls, one with the Packers and one with the New Orleans Saints.
