Rep. Steve Cohen tweeted a bold statement about White House Memphis Soul concert performer Cyndi Lauper Wednesday, but deleted it after 21 minutes.
"@cyndilauper great night, couldn't believe how hot u were.see you again next Tuesday.try a little tenderness," wrote Cohen, the Tennessee Democrat. The message was archived on Politwoops, a site that tracks politicians' deleted tweets.

Lauper joined Justin Timberlake and other performers Tuesday night for the White House's Memphis Soul concert
, performing a rendition of Otis Redding's "Try a Little Tenderness."
Cohen raved about her performance on Twitter, but he didn’t stop there. He praised Lauper again on the House floor Thursday.
"While there were a lot of great performers there, I want to put a particular shout-out to Ms. Cyndi Lauper, because she’s special," he said. "She’s a phenomenal lady."
A rep for Cohen wouldn't comment on why the tweet was deleted, but Cohen seemed to remember a little too late that commenting on a woman's looks could get him in hot water. Last week, President Barack Obama was ripped for calling California Attorney General Kamala Harris "the best looking attorney general in the country
"You have to be careful to, first of all, say (Kamala Harris) is brilliant and she is dedicated and she is tough, and she is exactly what you’d want in anybody who is administering the law, and making sure that everybody is getting a fair shake," Obama said at a fundraiser in San Francisco "She also happens to be, by far, the best-looking attorney general in the country."
This isn’t the first time Cohen's social media account has made headlines. In February, Cohen, who is married, sent an explicit tweet to a 24-year-old aspiring model and actress from Houston.
"Nice to know you were watchin SOTU Happy Valentines beautiful girl. Ilu."
Online, "ilu" typically means "I love you" or "I like you." The tweet, which was later deleted, raised eyebrows until it was revealed that the woman is Cohen's secret daughter.
