Oscar winning actor-activist George Clooney will host a fundraiser for President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign at his posh Los Angeles home on May 10, according to Entertainment Tonight.
Clooney will play host to the president and 150 of his closest supporters, each of whom can secure a golden ticket by parting with a cool $40,000 each.
Clooney has long been an outspoken advocate of various liberal-leaning political causes. Most recently, he was arrested outside the Sudanese embassy in Washington, D.C., in an attempt to bring awareness to the country’s humanitarian crisis. The arrest took place only two days after attending a state dinner at the White House.
The actor was also a participant in a staged reading of Dustin Lance Black’s play about California’s anti-gay marriage law, Proposition 8.
“I’m proud to do whatever I can to support the President . . . as long as no one asks me to sing,” Clooney joked to ET.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Obama Victory fund, a joint fundraising committee of Obama for America, the Democratic National Committee, and a handful of state Democratic parties.
