Christopher Walken has signed on to play a mobster in the film adaptation of the hit musical, "Jersey Boys."

Walken, 70, will portray Angelo "Gyp" DeCarlo, the real-life mafia figure who mentored the vocal harmony group, the Four Seasons.

There's no word as to whether he'll suggest "more cowbell" for Frankie Valli and the boys.

The Browadway show features songs like "Walk Like A Man," "December 1963 (Oh what a night)," and "Can't Take My Eyes Off You," and has won multiple Tony awards.

Clint Eastwood is set to direct the screen adaptation, which had originally been in the hands of Iron Man director Jon Favreau, BBC News reports. It is scheduled to begin shooting in September.

Walken is also known for his performances in "The Deer Hunter," "True Romance" and "Pulp Fiction," but he is also a trained dancer.

Eastwood, who lately made a splash by talking to an empty chair at the Republican National Convention, agreed to direct in May, and opted to cast stage actors in the leading singing roles.

Various reports have speculated that John Lloyd Young and Vincent Piazza, who played Valli and Tommy DeVito respectively, are reportedly reprising their stage roles for the movie, says BBC News.

Other media outlets mentioned the names Erich Bergen, Michael Lomenda, and Ryan Molloy, who have all performed in the stage production, as being up for roles.
