Chris Brown says he can identify with Trayvon Martin in the October edition of Jet magazine with the challenges he faces as a black man in a racist society and said rapper Jay Z has had an easier time overcoming negative publicity than himself.

“No disrespect, because I’m a fan, but nobody brings up the fact that he stabbed somebody and sold drugs,” Brown said of Jay-Z in the interview, according to CNN. “He gets a pass.”

About Martin, Brown told Jet, “I identify with Trayvon 100 percent as far as living in 2013 and still dealing with blatant racism. This generation is so used to racism that it’s normal; we don’t care. We aren’t on drugs or catching AIDS, but they still look at us as n—s.”

The Jet magazine hit newsstands Monday; the full article is not available online. But CNN pulled some of the “interesting” quotes from the Jet article, and Brown’s opinions are flying around the Internet. Whenever Brown talks, controversy seems to follow, CNN said, and this latest in-depth interview proves the point.

Wrote one commenter on a Huffington Post article about the Jet interview: “He does not get that woman beaters are singled out for special industrial grade Internet wrath and rightly so. Pointing out other people's faults to cover your own is a sign you're not really all that sorry Chris.”

“It doesn't matter what color or who you are if you walk around with a bad attitude whining about how bad you have it all of the time. Brown needs to grow up. He has the maturity level of an egocentric teen. That is why so many disliked him before the assault charges and even more so afterward,” another wrote.

Host Wendy Williams nailed Brown on her "The Wendy Williams Show" for getting snarky about Jay Z and racism.

“You were less than smart in trying to blame Jay Z. You need to blame yourself, young man,” she said. “You’re a woman beater. You’re disrespectful. You threw a chair out of the window of 'Good Morning America.' Whatever happened to that cute young man that used to dance for the Doublemint?”
