Former Florida state House Majority Leader Adam Hasner has gained endorsements from two powerful names in the Sunshine State in his bid for a seat in the U.S. Congress — Sen. Marco Rubio and former Gov. Jeb Bush.

The endorsements are rare. Bush has not expressed support for any other candidate in Florida, and Rubio spokesman Alex Conant told the Palm Beach Post that he did not know of any candidate other than Hasner who has won Rubio’s endorsement.

Hasner is running for the seat now held by fellow Republican Allen West, District 22. Following redistricting in Florida, West has announced he will run in the state’s new 18th District.

Hasner had originally stated his intention of running for the U.S. Senate seat held by Democrat Bill Nelson, but after the redistricting plan was released he announced he would run for the House instead.

Previously, Hasner held the position of Majority Leader in Florida's state House. Florida’s 22nd District includes much of Hasner’s old Florida House district in Palm Beach and Broward counties.

Sen. Rubio said: “I am proud to endorse and stand with Adam every step of way in his bid for the U.S. House.”

West has also endorsed Hasner.
