Bubba Raceway Park Crash Victim, 15-Year-Old Niokoa Johnson, Dies

A 15-year-old Florida girl racing in a time trial at Ocala’s Bubba Raceway Park has died from the injuries received when she lost control of the car and crashed into a concrete barrier.

Niokoa Johnson was participating in her first race Saturday, according to a post from her older sister Nakiya Johnson on the raceway’s Facebook page.

Johnson was on her second lap at Bubba Raceway Park when her car crashed and she was severely injured, WKMG Local 6 reported. She was airlifted to UF HealthShands Hospital in Gainesville, where she later died.

Many from around the country flooded the raceway’s Facebook site with words of encouragement, and as news filtered around the internet that Johnson died, they offered their prayers.

“So sad RIP little one god has taken another race angel home our prayers and thoughts are with y'all at this time love from texas,” wrote Therisa Hoopingarner.



The Marion County Sheriff’s Office will investigate the crash as an accidental death, WKMG reported.
