Boehner Spokesman Moves to Romney Campaign

Brendan Buck, a veteran spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner, has left to join Mitt Romney’s campaign staff in Boston.

He will deal with the vice presidential selection, The Hill reports. Buck is expected to be a spokesman for the vice presidential candidate after he/she is chosen this month.

Buck will work with Kevin Sheridan, a former Republican National Committee spokesman, who will be in charge of communications for Romney’s running mate. Buck also will work with the Romney campaign’s press secretary Andrea Saul.

Buck, who is taking a leave from his position with Boehner, started the job for Romney earlier this week in Boston.

The addition of Buck to the campaign could boost expectations that Romney will choose someone from Congress to serve as his No. 2. Among the congressmen in the running for that slot are Sens. Rob Portman of Ohio, John Thune of South Dakota, Marco Rubio of Florida, and Rep. Paul Ryan.

"Brendan will be a great addition to the campaign,” Sheridan said, according to The Hill. “We’re looking forward to him applying his quick wit and deep understanding of President Obama’s record of broken promises to our effort. We’re lucky to have him."
