Ava Sambora Sweet 16 Unites Heather Locklear, Richie Sambora

Richie Sambora and Heather Locklear, who divorced six years ago after a 13-year marriage, have apparently managed to overcome past differences, coming together recently during their daughter Ava Sambora's sweet 16 party last Friday.

In the celebration, which was held at Los Angeles' Four Season Hotel, a smiling Ava Sambora is seen sandwiched between Locklear, the 52-year-old former "Melrose Place" star, and the 54-year-old Richie Sambora, the former longtime lead guitarist of the rock band Bon Jovi.

Since ending their marriage six years ago, the pair have apparently managed to improve their relationship during their separation from one another, US Magazine reported.

"We're very good. It's actually even beyond for [our daughter's] sake," Sambora told Access Hollywood last year, noting that they "go out all the time" as a family.

"Heather and I really respect each other, and we've become better friends, I think, now that we're not married," Sambora added.

Tension between the pair was apparently heightened as a result of Sambora's decision to date Locklear's friend Denise Richards shortly after the pair divorced. For her part, Locklear reportedly rebounded by having a relationship with her Melrose Place co-star Jack Wagner.

The New Jersey-born Sambora recently made news when it was reported that Bon Jovi had fired the veteran guitarist over money issues in August.

Sources close to the band told RumorFix.com that Sambora’s departure stemmed from the fact that he was making $2 million a month and 20 percent of the profits from the tour, while his fill-in guitarist, Philip "Phil X" Xenidis was paid just $10,000 a month.

The band, which on Wednesday performed at Anaheim's Honda Center, remains without Sambora.

Locklear can currently be seen on the TV Land series "Hot in Cleveland," and the TNT show "Franklin & Bash."

Ava, meanwhile, is apparently following in her mother's footsteps, telling Teen Vogue in a recent interview that she is pursuing an acting career.
