Anthony Weiner Sexted Up to Three Women After Resigning; Falls in Polls

New York mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner admitted Thursday he sexted not just one woman after resigning from Congress for the same behavior, but up to three.

At a news conference in Brooklyn on Thursdsay, Weiner said that he had traded lewd texts with up to 10 women in all, most of which were sent when he served in the House of Representatives, The New York Times reported.

Weiner, who is married, implied after his 2011 resignation from Congress that he had ended his habit of sexting women, and in recent weeks was seen as the front-runner in his bid to be elected mayor of the nation’s largest city. But this week's news that he sent sexually provocative photos of himself after he resigned have resulted in falling poll numbers and calls from fellow Democrats to bow out of the race.

The New York Times reported that Weiner is determined to continue campaigning.

Comedians have been having a field day at Weiner’s expense, and social networking sites are being deluged with comments.

“It’s getting quite hard to come up with original Weiner jokes,” tweeted @NMAtv.

“After seeing the unpixilated version of Weiner’s weiner pics, I’m not sure what he’s so proud about. Or why his wife stays with him,” tweeted @pinapl.

“The bigger shocker is that Anthony Weiner had three women to sext, not that he sexted them,” tweeted @avshaw121.

“Weiner sexter says, ‘He’s not who I thought he was.’ Who, exactly, did you think he was? He had already resigned for lying and sexting,” tweeted @ChrisMegerian

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has called Weiner’s actions “stunning” and “clueless,” among other things, Fox News said.

Lee M. Miringoff, director of The Marist College Institute for Public Opinion, told Fox News that “for many Democrats, the latest revelations about Anthony Weiner are more of the same, only more so.”

New York resident Eric Patel spoke for many when he told CNN, “Wow, this guy is such a ... . I don’t want to use any bad words. But how can you repeatedly do this thing, and he has no shame. And he’s like, ‘Oh, I’m still running for mayor after all this.”
