Police say they have found new evidence that indicates that missing University of Minnesota student Anarae Schunk was killed last month.

Schunk, 20, was last seen leaving Nina's Grill in Burnsville, Minn., with ex-boyfriend Shavelle Chavez-Nelson and his current girlfriend Ashley Conrade in the early hours of Sept. 22.

Chavez-Nelson, 31, was charged Thursday with second-degree murder for allegedly shooting a man to death outside the bar that night that Schunk went missing, the Star Tribune reported.

Conrade, 24, was arrested and charged with aiding and harboring an offender.

According to the Star Tribune, police told the Schunk family Sunday that they had recovered a bloody jacket from the apartment of Chavez-Nelson's ex-wife in St. Paul. The jacket reportedly had 18-20 puncture holes in it, which officials believe to be stab wounds.

Authorities also said a knife was recovered from the roof of the apartment building.

Tyson Schunk, the victim's brother, claims his sister was seen near the apartment the night she went missing before she went to Nina's Grill.

DNA results on the jacket and the knife have not yet been processed.

"Late last night police confirmed the worst, Anarae is no longer with us," the Schunk family wrote on a Facebook page dedicated to finding their daughter. "We will leave the page up as a tribute to all the wonderful people who loved and cared for Anarae and all that she stands for. Thank you for your support throughout."

Schunk reportedly dated Chavez-Nelson for a few months last year, but broke off the relationship after learning he was living with another woman — not Conrade — with whom he had a child.

The University of Minnesota junior contact Chavez-Nelson again recently in an attempt to get back $5,000 she had loaned him when they were dating, according to the Star Tribune.
