The Air Force has awarded a $335.1 million contract for aircraft designed for flight training, surveillance, and combat operations. The contract, issued by the Aeronautical Systems Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, went to contractor Sierra Nevada Corp., according to the
Dayton Daily News.
The company is to deliver 20 Light Support Aircraft and related equipment, including ground stations, by April 30, 2014.
The order for the single-engine turboprop aircraft is part of a contract allowing the Air Force to procure related equipment and services for up to five years, according to the Defense Department.
Sierra Nevada will do the work in Sparks, Nev., and Jacksonville, Fla.
