Casino/hotel magnate Sheldon Adelson, perhaps the Republican Party’s top donor in this election cycle, together with his wife Miriam gave $5 million to YG Action Fund, a super PAC backed by House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in the second quarter, reports Politico.

The contribution was listed in the super PAC’s latest government filing. YG Action raised $5.3 million in total during the quarter. That’s an increase of almost tenfold from $55,000 in the first quarter. YG Action now has $4.7 million in cash.

The Adelsons have donated more than $40 million to various Republican causes this election cycle. They kept Newt Gingrich’s presidential campaign alive nearly single-handedly earlier this year.

In February, Adelson allocated $5 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund, a super PAC backed by Cantor, Speaker John Boehner, and other top House Republicans. That super PAC gained $1 million last quarter from Texas real estate tycoon Bob Perry.

As for the YG Action Fund, it doled out almost $460,000 in the second quarter on ads for North Carolina congressional candidate Richard Hudson. He faces Scott Keadle, who is backed by the Club for Growth, in a primary runoff Tuesday.
