WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Lindsey Graham says the U.S. should consider military action to defend U.S. troops if Pakistan's intelligence agencies continue supporting terrorists who are attacking American forces.

The South Carolina Republican says Pakistan is engaging in hostile acts against the U.S and Afghanistan, and that must stop.

Graham, who's on the Senate Armed Services Committee, says there will be a lot of bipartisan support in Congress if there's a decision that the U.S. must "elevate our response."

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Adm. Mike Mullen, last week accused Pakistan's intelligence agency of backing extremists who attacked the U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan and detonated a truck bomb that wounded scores of American soldiers.
