Carl Lewis, perhaps the best track and field athlete in history, has another race to run. His latest victory wasn’t too tough, coming out on top of an uncontested Democratic primary for a New Jersey state Senate seat Tuesday, Politico reports.

That’s because Republicans charge that he doesn’t meet New Jersey’s residency requirements, which stipulate that a candidate must live in the Garden State for at least four years.

A federal judge let Lewis on to the primary ballot before a final ruling on the matter. As an adult, Lewis has lived largely in California, though he was born in Jersey, grew up in Willingboro, and purchased a home there in 2005. He voted in California until April, when he registered in New Jersey.

If the judge approves, Lewis will run against Republican Dawn Marie Addiego.
