U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas told a group of supporters in Des Moines, Iowa, Wednesday that he’s still not sure whether he’s running for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination. However, the economic crisis could help him decide, the Des Moines Register
“I’m undecided, that’s the truth,” he said. “But I have said in the past, that if there’s a major economic crisis worse than what we have now . . . I’d feel almost obligated since I’ve spent my lifetime warning about a dollar crisis.”
Paul, who was in Des Moines to talk at a meeting of the Network of Iowa Christian Home Educators, said rising prices are just one indicator that more economic woes could be ahead for the nation.
Paul emphasized civil liberties and called the financial crisis a symptom of big government during two public appearances.
“There’s a revolution going on in this country,” he told hundreds of supporters. “The problem is, it hasn’t quite reached Washington yet.”
