Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney says states such as Texas, where 25 percent of the population is uninsured, make a cohesive national insurance plan impractical, reports DailyCaller.com.

Mitt Romney, insurance, palin, fox.Romney, who announced on Thursday that he is seeking the GOP nod for the White House, made the comment on “Fox and Friends” as he discussed the healthcare plan for Massachusetts that he passed while he was governor. The plan was “right for the people of Massachusetts,” where 93 percent of the population is insured, he said, adding that it would not work nationally.

Romney also discussed the challenges he faced during his 2008 presidential primary campaign, and his reaction to potential presidential candidate Sarah Palin rolling into New Hampshire on her tour bus the same day he made his official announcement there. He said she is a positive figure in the Republican Party.

“I think she adds to the energy and passion around the campaign . . . When she speaks, people listen,” Romney said.
