Poll: Romney Fares Best v. Obama in New Hampshire

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has the best chance of the top potential Republican presidential candidates to take down President Barack Obama in New Hampshire, according to a new poll from Public Policy Polling (PPP).

The survey shows Obama leading Romney 47 percent to 46 percent in the Granite State, well within the 3.5 percentage point margin of error. But Obama leads Newt Gingrich 52 percent-39 percent, Mike Huckabee 52 percent-38 percent, Donald Trump 51 percent-37 percent and Sarah Palin 56 percent-34 percent.

“This is another case of Obama prevailing not because voters love him but because they do not particularly like any of the Republicans,” according to a PPP statement.

The president’s approval and disapproval ratings both stand at 46 percent. Romney has an unfavorable spread of only 45 percent-44 percent. But all the other potential candidates have much bigger unfavorable spreads.
