Gen. David Petraeus, who commands the allied forces in Afghanistan, has given no indication that he ever wants to be president – or any other kind of elected official. But in a Gallup poll of Republican voters comparing him to Chris Christie, Jeb Bush and Donald Trump, the general came up with the highest net favorability rating.

poll, petraeus, christie, bushPetraeus drew a favorable view from 61 percent of respondents and an unfavorable one from 7 percent for a net favorability rating of 54. That compares to 29 for New Jersey Gov. Christie (41 percent favorable to 12 percent unfavorable) and 27 for former Florida Gov. Bush (53 percent favorable to 26 percent unfavorable). Real estate mogul/reality TV star Trump has a net favorability rating of 15 (52 percent favorable to 37 percent unfavorable).

Like Petraeus, Christie and Bush insist they won’t run.
