It’s been a long slide down for former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. All the power she had in the last Congress has disappeared in this one, Politico reports.

pelosi, star, sets“Her diminished stature has affected the way she is perceived in Washington’s power game and the way she handles her duties as head of the House Democratic minority. It all adds up to this: At times, the once-omnipresent Pelosi seems practically invisible in the Capitol,” the news service states.

Pelosi played no role in congressional budget negotiations last week, and that was no accident. Neither the White House nor congressional leaders from either party wanted her around, sources from both parties told Politico. They said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell also was shunned, so the White House had an excuse for ignoring Pelosi.
