Palin Scheduled for Military Tribute, Fundraiser on Calif. Debate Day

Tuesday, 08 Mar 2011 05:19 PM

By Hiram Reisner

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, undecided on a 2012 presidential run, is scheduled to headline a military-appreciation event and fundraiser May 2 in Colorado – the same day as the first GOP presidential primary debate is scheduled to take place in California, The Hill reports.

The event – "Tribute to the Troops With Sarah Palin" — is set for Colorado Christian University in the Denver area. The 7 p.m. Mountain time tribute to the troops falls on the same day as the NBC News-Politico debate, scheduled for the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley.

The former Republican vice-presidential candidate  won’t receive an honorarium for the event, university official John Andrews told The Denver Post "It's not a political day," Andrews said. "It's a day to honor our armed forces."

A spokeswoman for the Reagan Presidential Library Foundation told the Post that no likely Republican candidates have committed to the debate, to be moderated by NBC "Nightly News" anchor Brian Williams and Politico editor John Harris.
