More than 30 states have taken up bills, court cases, or referendums against the national healthcare overhaul, the National Journal reports. The growing number of state challenges, coupled with House votes in Congress to defund the law, is putting new pressure on President Barack Obama’s prized legislative achievement.

Obamacare, state, challenge, healthcare, reform, AP photoOhioans are collecting signatures for a constitutional amendment to exempt residents from the requirement that they purchase health insurance, a key component of the law. In New Hampshire, a bill would reject any funds received from the federal government for implementing the law.

Twenty-six states have joined Florida’s court challenge to the law’s constitutionality, while 12 states are proposing interstate compacts as an alternative to the national healthcare program.
