Presidents tend to be much more comfortable hawking for votes on the campaign trail rather than dealing with the dirty details of governance. And current President Barack Obama is no different, according to Politico.

obama campaigner relaxedWhen he “is out campaigning, his limbs loosen and his speaking style turns breezy — he drops his G’s and laughs a lot. At the White House, he enunciates carefully, and his posture is more reserved,” the news service states.

Obviously it’s a lot easier for a president to promote himself in a friendly campaign environment than to deal with complicated matters of policy. Now the Obama team must decide how much time he should spend on the campaign trail and how much doing his job in Washington.

Obviously it’s a delicate balancing act. Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., favors strong campaigning. “I’m always for engaging earlier rather than later because it takes time for messaging to sink in,” he said.
