Ohio is likely to be a key swing state in next year’s presidential election, just as it was in 2008, when President Barack Obama emerged victorious. At this point, voters in the state are evenly divided over whether Obama should be re-elected, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll, the National Journal reports.

The tally is 47 percent to 47 percent on that issue. Meanwhile, Obama’s approval/disapproval rating improved a bit to 49 percent/45 percent from 47 percent/48 percent in March before the killing of Osama bin Laden.

But Obama’s lead against a generic Republican has narrowed to a statistically insignificant two percentage points (41 percent to 39 percent) from seven points in March (41 percent to 34 percent). And 55 percent of voters disapprove of how Obama is handling the economy.
