Serious questions are being raised as to whether President Barack Obama even looked out of the window of Air Force One when he flew over areas hit by the Mississippi floods.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said he hadn’t seen the president even peek, White House Dossier reports.

If proven true, it could be highly embarrassing for Obama and belie the suggestion that he cares for the common folk. One of the defining images of George W. Bush’s presidency was the shot of him looking down on New Orleans from the same plane after Hurricane Katrina. Though Bush returned to the area a few days later, the damage had been done.

Obama flew over the flood area on his way to El Paso, Texas, on Tuesday. Reporters on board Air Force One asked Carney if the president had looked at the devastation caused by the rising waters.

“I haven’t seen him do that,” replied Carney. “But I haven’t been with him for the full flight so far.”
