President Barack Obama is a “lousy” leader and is only “getting worse,” Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Politico reports. Graham also blamed the economic crisis on the president and applauded the tea party for imposing spending limits in Congress.
“He is failing, and it’s not the tea party’s fault,” Graham said of Obama. “What was hope and change is despair and confusion.”

The Obama administration’s programs have done nothing to address the high unemployment rate, the dire housing marketing, and prices at the gas pump, Graham said.

“If he were in the Southeastern Conference, he would be fired as a coach,” the former University of South Carolina Gamecock said of the president. “He would not have his contract renewed.”

Graham said the tea party has been unfairly blamed by Democrats for pushing the nation toward default.

“If we had listened to the tea party, we would have $4 trillion in reduction in debt over time and not been downgraded,” he said. “Thank God they’re here.”
