Retired NYPD police officer Arno Herwerth, who fought a battle to have a license plate proclaiming GETOSAMA, is going to change it — to GOTOSAMA.

Osama, license, NYPD,
Arno Herwerth fought for his GETOSAMA plate, but he's happy to be updating it.
Herwerth was first to claim the new plate from the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles after Osama bin Laden was shot and killed on Sunday, reports the New York Post.

“I’m thrilled. It’s perfect,” Herwerth said.

The former NYPD sergeant from Hauppauge, Long Island, won a drawn-out battle in 2008 with the DMV, which initially had said that GETOSAMA could be too “objectionable” for a license plate.
