Arizona Republican Gov. Jan Brewer’s decision to veto a bill requiring all candidates running for office in Arizona to provide a copy of their birth certificate alienated some conservatives, who want to see President Barack Obama’s certificate. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., isn’t one of them, The Hill reports.

mccain, brewer, birther“Proud of @GovBrewer for her veto of the ‘birther bill’ -- it was the right decision,” he wrote on Twitter.

Suspicions about the place of Obama’s birth inspired the Arizona bill. In 2008, McCain's presidential campaign looked into "birther" claims against Obama and found them to be baseless.
