The candidates for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts have already raised more money from supporters than in any other election in state history — or any other Senate race in the country this year — with Election Day still more than three months away.

An Associated Press review of federal campaign finance reports found the amount collected by all Senate candidates in Massachusetts through the end of June is nearly $47 million. Top races in other states have exceeded $20 million in fundraising at the most.

Most of the Senate campaign money in Massachusetts has come from supporters of Republican Sen. Scott Brown and Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren — the only remaining candidates.

Democrats and Republicans both see the outcome of the Massachusetts race as key to control of the Senate.
