What is LCD television?
LCD television made its debut in 2007 and its sales have shown a consistent upward trend ever since. LCD televisions mostly use LCDs that are based on thin film transistors. The display of an LCD TV consists of two transparent polarizing panels with the liquid crystal solution sandwiched in between. The inside surface of the front panel is etched in the form of a grid that serves as a template for the liquid crystal layer. Behind the panel is a source of white light that comprises all colors. The liquid crystals either allow this light to pass through or block it, depending on the electric signal applied to them. The grid pattern, referred above, has color filters installed in front, with each filter letting either the red, green, or blue component of the white light to pass through and act as a subpixel. These subpixels are so closely spaced that each of the grid points appear as a single color. This causes us to be unable to see individual colors coming from the subpixels, but a single color resulting from them. This blend of colors produces the image.
