Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal made clear his opposition to the recent Supreme Court decision that upheld Obamacare during an appearance Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Jindal, the Republican who’s been fingered as a possible Mitt Romney running mate, disagreed with the ruling and said the court is “eroding our freedoms.”

“The federal government can now tax us for inactivity to compel behavior, not primarily to collect revenue,” Jindal said, referring the legislation’s mandate that all Americans obtain health insurance. “It’s the threat of a new tax increase to change behavior.”

He said the best way to ensure more Americans are covered “is to get them better-paying jobs so they can afford healthcare. I think it makes more sense to do everything we can to elect Mitt Romney to repeal Obamacare.”

Jindal called the law an unsustainable entitlement program: “We can’t afford another entitlement program. We’re going to have more people in the cart rather than pulling the cart. We’re going to go the way of Europe if we don’t repeal this law.”

When host David Gregory asked Jindal about his prospects of becoming Romney’s running mate, the conservative answered, “We’re not speculating. We’re not commenting on that.”
