The conservative Twitterati watching former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee
’s every move for an indication whether he’ll run for president lit up the blogosphere Wednesday with conflicting reports, the New Yorker reported Thursday.
In the end, Huckabee remained right where he started the day: Undecided about this presidential run.
It all started when conservative blogger Erick Erickson posted this on Twitter: “Mike Huckabee is out. He won’t be running for president.”
The basis of his tweet was the South Carolina political blog Process Story, which put up a post that said: “We’ve been told that former Ark. Gov. Mike Huckabee, a rumored candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, is giving his former S.C. supporters the nod to seek work on other presidential campaigns.”
Well, not exactly. Another South Carolina political blog, FITS News, spoke to Hogan Gidley, executive director of Huckabee’s PAC, in the afternoon, and posted this:
“Gidley told FITS that rumors about Huckabee pulling out of the race were ‘categorically false.’ He then added that there’s “absolutely zero truth” to reports that Huckabee was releasing his South Carolina team.”
So there you have it. Just another day in the overeager political blogging-tweeting virtual world. Right back where it started.
