"Mike Haridopolos is a trusted friend, a valued legislative partner, and a much needed voice for conservative principles in Washington, D.C.,” Cannon said of his Republican colleague in the other Florida chamber. “I am confident that Mike will tackle the challenges facing our nation with the same passion and vigor with which he has fought to bring much needed reforms to Florida. Mike is someone who actually stands up for what he believes in when the chips are down, not just someone who will talk in sound-bites. I am confident that he is the candidate that can finally retire Bill Nelson.

Haridopolos responded, "I am honored and humbled to have Speaker Cannon's support in this campaign, as he has stood steadfastly with me in bringing much needed reforms to Florida. Speaker Cannon is a great leader who has worked with me in tackling entitlement reforms, cutting taxes, and ensuring that government lives within its means. I couldn't ask for a better partner in the Florida Legislature, and I look forward to having the speaker join me on the campaign trail.”
