South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley on Thursday delivered a blistering tirade against President Barack Obama’s silence in response to the NLRB’s efforts to block Boeing from bringing 1,000 jobs to the Palmetto State.

Speaking on a media conference call, Haley declared: “This president works for us. This president owes us an answer. This president owes Boeing an answer. This president owes every business in this country an answer on what he thinks of the NLRB. If he is supportive of them, say he is supportive of them. If he thinks what they are doing is wrong, say what you think is wrong. But to be silent is cowardly and is just something that is unacceptable for the president of our country."

The NLRB has charged Boeing with violating labor laws by seeking to build the 787 Dreamliner in a non-union plant in South Carolina, a right to work state, rather than in a Washington state facility that used union labor. According to a report on CNSNews.com, Haley also called the NLRB “un-American” and “a rogue agency.”

NLRB critics say the agency has made several recent rulings that appear to be anti-business and could hurt job creation.

In an unrelated case, the Obama Justice Department on Wednesday announced it would seek to block AT&T’s merger with T-Mobile, despite AT&T’s offer to bring 5,000 call-center jobs back to U.S. shores as part of the deal. Justice officials say merging the second- and fourth-largest cellphone carriers in the United States would have a negative impact on competition.
