Google is fixing a glitch in its new airline itinerary app Flight Search that was found to offer an odd destination choice: “New York, NY — World Trade Center (WTC) — unavailable.”
The New York Post
reports that a user discovered the option listed alongside actual New York City area airports JFK, La Guardia, and Newark. It seems the Internet search engine had used outdated codes while building the service, which it launched Tuesday.
“Our intention with Flight Search is to provide information only about active airports,” a Google representative said. “We are removing the WTC code now that we're aware of it and we will look for other airports that need to come out as well.”
Flight Search’s launch was delayed during an investigation into Google’s $700 million purchase of the company ITA, whose travel software powers the new app.
