Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said President Barack Obama might enjoy a “bounce” off Bill Clinton’s rousing convention speech last week, but the lengthy script was “eerily anti-Obama.”

“You can take his speech, spin it not very much, and it’s actually a condemnation of the fact that Obama learned nothing . . . out of the 2010 election,” Gingrich said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Gingrich said the popular former president’s appearance at the Democratic National Convention surely will help Obama get more votes but casts the commander-in-chief in a new light.

Editor's Note: Will Obama Be Defeated? Vote Here!

“I think what it does is it actually shrinks Obama,” he said of Clinton’s endorsement.

“You have a real president, and then you have this guy who’s a pretender. The swing vote is going to be disappointed, not angry. The angry vote’s already there. Romney’s getting all of the angry vote.”
