The Florida State Senate concentrated this week on developing a balanced budget without adding taxes or fees, said Senate President Mike Haridopolos.
Haridopolos, a Republican who issued a video report today detailing accomplishments during this, the third week of the annual legislative session, said, “With the ongoing downturn of Florida’s economy, we face a $3.8 billion shortfall from last year’s budget. Balancing the budget takes a renewed commitment to funding essential services that Floridians depend on. Senators are focused on protecting funding in education, health and human services, transportation and economic development. Those are Florida’s priorities. As we begin the fourth week of session, the Senate Budget Committee will finish its work on our proposed budget. Passing a budget free from tax and fee increases is our commitment to Floridians.”
