A Northern California woman was arrested and later released on bail after she allegedly attacked a 12-year-old boy she believed was bullying her daughter.
Delia Garcia-Bratcher, 30, was arrested on suspicion of felony child abuse after reportedly confronting the male student at a Santa Rosa charter school on Friday, according to San Francisco Chronicle reports
She allegedly didn’t inform the school she was on the school’s property.
“Her defense is that she didn’t do it,” Ben Adams, Garcia-Bratcher’s attorney, told the Chronicle, adding that there are witnesses who claim the boy put marks on his own throat to make it look like he had been attacked.

No adults apparently saw the incident, but students at the elementary school told authorities they saw the mother grab the boy’s throat after the woman’s son apparently pointed the boy out as the one who was bothering his sister.
Sonoma County sheriff’s investigators have said this week that Garcia-Bratcher may have gone after the wrong child.
“We don’t know if this kid bullied this girl at all,” Lt. Steve Brown told The Associated Press
. “It looks like he did not. We can’t find anybody to say that he did.”
Lydia Ball, the accused woman’s aunt, told KPIX-TV, the CBS affiliate in San Francisco, that her niece couldn’t have attacked the boy:
