House Majority Leader Eric Cantor suggests that the House could cut off foreign aid to Egypt if it doesn’t quit cracking down on pro-democracy activists.

"I think we need to get tough and speak out as leaders,” Politico quoted Cantor as saying on “Fox News Sunday” today. “I am talking about the very real prospect that if Egypt does not demonstrate that it sees things in the way that we do in terms of promotion of freedom, human progress and the protection of minority rights, there will be repercussions on Capitol Hill."

Asked specifically whether he was including the possibility of cutting off aid to Egypt, he replied: "Certainly that discussion is alive.”
