Some congressmen have voiced objections to the budget deal negotiated by congressional leaders of both parties and the White House last week. But House Speaker John Boehner says that opposition won’t stop him from guiding the bill successfully through the House Thursday.

speaker, budget, deal“I’ll get there,” the speaker told Politico. The budget agreed upon for the rest of fiscal 2011, which ends Sept. 30, cuts spending by $38 billion.

Rep. Rob Andrews, D-N.J., said the bill has enough Democratic support that “I don’t see any chance that this fails unless the bottom falls out with the House Republicans.”

Boehner certainly has his allies. “This fight is over, move on to the next one,” said House Armed Services Committee Chairman Buck McKeon, R-Calif.
