I think we can all agree that the greatest philosopher of all times was our favorite rogue cop, Dirty Harry, when he uttered this self-evident truth — words to live by: "A good man has to know his limitations."
Amen to that Sir Dirty, and this here dirty guitar player couldn't agree more.
Hence the title of my 40-something record and 50th year of rock-'n'-roll touring, "Shut Up & Jam!"
As I wrap up my daily "we the people" duties spotlighting cockroaches and raising adequate hell against the criminal abuse of power and dastardly corruption of a government gone mad, I intelligently seek the soul-cleansing healing powers of nature on my beautiful Texas ranch and cruise the sacred wild grounds with my wonderful wife and best friend Labrador retrievers.
And because my hell-raising duties are so consuming and intense, I further seek the calming escape remedies of my beloved Gibson guitars and loud amplifiers to unleash flurries of sonic bombast as I write and create my continuing saga of grinding R&B and R&R love songs for the masses.
Yes dear, the MotorCity Madman does indeed, on occasion when job requirements are fulfilled, shut up and jam.
As the lyrics to my classic song "Workin Hard Playin Hard" so eloquently deliver, "I'm working hard to earn my way, but lucky me my work is play." I hit the mighty American road again in 2014 for yet another celebration of American soul music for the most gung-ho soul-music lovers in the world.
As I have for more than 50 years, I rockout like an untamed animal on stage each night at least six nights a week all summer long with the tightest band on earth, completely wearing myself out, drained, whooped, schnookered, out of steam.
But the universal communication of music doesn't stop there, for I have been blessed to enjoy a roundtable with great American families every day on the road all these years. And from these upbeat, uppity, uninhibited, stream of conscious open discussions, I have come to know and understand what makes people tick, what is in their hearts and ultimately what they believe to be the good, the bad, and the ugly about our beloved country.
To say Americans are peeved is a gross understatement.
Much before the anger arose though, there was a trembling of discontent, heartbreak even, that the American dream as we knew it was being chiseled away at, fundamentally transformed if you will, by an ever increasing disconnected government running amok.
Cops, teachers, ranchers, farmers, small business owners, military heroes, working hard playing hard families from every imaginable background and walk of life, who are dedicated to put their nose to the grindstone and do everything in our power to be an asset to our families, communities, and country.
We are appalled at the near completion of the brainwashing of so many to not ask what they can do for their country, but insanely, how they squwaller, squawk and whine, demanding what their country must do for them.
There really is a line drawn in the sand, and on my side are driven Americans producing to the best of our ability, and on Obama's side are the bloodsuckers who laugh at the concept of earning your own way.
It really is that bad and ugly.
The blatant despicable fraud of Obamacare scams, entitlement scams, welfare scams, foodstamp scams, fuel subsidy scams, child-support scams, unemployment benefit scams, so called disability scams and the entire Saul Alinsky and Cloward-Piven dismantling of the greatest quality of life ever known to mankind is a tragedy of untold proportions, and the liberal democrat scammasters are treading on us like jackboots gone mad.
In every city I travel, at every airport, every hotel, every restaurant, every sporting goods store, every charity event, every gig, everywhere, good, kind people come up to me to express their sincere gratitude for we-the-people activism, and they express how very concerned they are for our country.
Many Americans are aghast at the liars and scam artists infesting our government. We can't believe the IRS can get away with such constitutional violations. We can't believe anybody could possibly believe the "Allah Akbhar" terrorist assault on Ft. Hood could be seen as an episode of workplace violence. We are shocked that our government would refuse to provide meaningful security to our citizens in dangerous places like Benghazi then continue to ignore their responsibility to fess up.
We are angered and saddened that our president would refuse to lift a finger to get a heroic U.S. Marine warrior out of the dangerous Mexican prison.
We don't recognize the level of indecency of a president who will make a phone call and big deal out of a gay athlete admitting his homosexuality but make no phone call to the widow of Chris Kyle.
We stand in stunned horror that the most powerful man in the world would threaten to bypass the constitutional checks and balances by defying the other two arms of the U.S. government by threatening to "use my pen and phone" to dictate policy like some cheap tyrant.
We are furious that the top cop and the president conspired to run thousands of illegal guns to Mexican drug gangs resulting in hundreds of murders including the death of Brian Terry, then refuse any accountability.
We the people are shocked at the outright scramble by this president and his administration to refuse accountability for anything at any level, to pick and choose which laws they will enforce and which laws they ignore.
It's not just me, and it's not just a minor faction who are angry, it is a majority of good Americans who have had just about enough of this rogue administration and the abject failure of the GOP or anyone else to make meaningful efforts to make things right and demand accountability.
Oh, I'll shut up and jam alright, but only after I have completed my we-the-people duties to take back our country from the freedom-hating, America-hating thugs currently running her into the ground.
As I celebrate Independence Day — everyday — and rock out across America, the pulse I am reading is at the breaking point, and we pray for a real leader, a real statesman, a real fighter to emerge to lead us out of these tragic times at the hands of the enemies of America here at home.
Freedom is not free, and we owe it to the heroic warriors of the U.S. military and their families who continue to sacrifice dearly defending and dying for the U.S. Constitution and the American way.
God bless America, and God help America.
