Steve Wozniak, who co-founded Apple with Steve Jobs, takes a dim view of the company now when it comes to the iPhone 5.

Many users have criticized the phone for its flawed mapping service, but Wozniak takes it to Apple for not creating a bigger screen on the device.

“Part of me wishes Apple had not been so arrogant and feeling like ‘We're the only one with the right clue,’” Wozniak tells TechCentral, a South African website.

“I wish they had made a wider version [of the iPhone 5]. I think Apple tricked itself by saying ‘Oh, you can reach everything with one thumb.’ … But Apple said that as a defensive move because everyone else had larger screens.”

Some users want big screens, Wozniak points out. “Not all people want the same thing.”

Many users of Android, the competing operating system to Apple, say one reason they prefer Android phones over iPhones is that the Androids provide more hardware choices.

As for Apple’s stock, it has dropped about 10 percent since hitting a record high of $705 Sept. 21. Analysts have offered a range of explanations — from complaints about iPhone 5 to a strike at a Chinese factory producing iPhones.

But the company’s sales of iPhones and iPads continue to explode. So the decline is more likely a technical correction from the stock’s 70 percent jump in the year through Sept. 21.
