A University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School study finds that men with shaved heads — not thinning but close-cropped or shorn off — are deemed to be more masculine, dominant and boast more leadership potential than do their counterparts with thick and lustrous locks.

Venture capitalist and Netscape founder Marc Andreessen, 41, DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, 61, and Amazon.com CEO Jeffrey Bezos, 48, all sport a close-cropped look, The Wall Street Journal finds.
Going under the razor might help some appear younger or avoid the monk look or the comb-over.
“I’m not saying that shaving your head makes you successful, but it starts the conversation that you’ve done something active,” says tech entrepreneur and writer Seth Godin, 52, who is also bald, The Journal adds.
“These are people who decide to own what they have, as opposed to trying to pretend to be something else.”
The Wharton study showed subjects two different photos of the same men: one with hair and the other of the same man but with the hair digitally removed.
In three tests, the subjects found the men with shaved heads as more dominant than their counterparts with full heads of hair.
Other tests perceived the men with shaved heads as taller and stronger.
“The results were consistent across all three studies,” says Albert Mannes, a lecturer at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania who conducted the study, according to ABC News.
“It takes a lot of confidence to go the route of baldness, so we think they must be really self-confident,” Mannes tells ABC News.
