By now you probably already know that Michele Bachmann’s Iowa campaign chair, Kent Sorenson, suddenly turned round and endorsed Ron Paul last night. And I have to tell you, I’m disgusted.

I know Kent Sorenson. We have each other’s private phone numbers and I also have to tell you that I texted him last night and for the first time ever, he has not returned my text. I have left him voicemail — no return call.

Let me back up here a moment. I guess I need to say that I THOUGHT I knew Kent Sorenson. Apparently I was wrong, because what he just did and the way he just did it are perhaps the most dishonorable things I have ever witnessed.

Sorenson stated that when he first decided to back Bachmann it was after careful thought over whether or not he should back Paul. He made his choice. Then yesterday in his quitting statement, he said that he loved Michele; that the other candidates had been mean to her and that Ron Paul can win.

Wait a minute.

Did he originally back Bachmann because he thought she could win? What does this say about him?

And if all of that wasn’t enough, the claim by the Bachmann camp — which I have a second witness to — that Sorenson said he had been offered a big paycheck to go and work for Paul and that everyone in Iowa sells out, is so insulting you are left wondering if he himself will seek re-election to the Iowa Senate next time around or if he in fact just ended his state political career.

The campaigns in question don’t matter. He could have gone from Perry to Romney and I would be saying the same thing. The way he did it; the timing so close to caucus; the fact that he was at a different campaign event earlier in the day wearing Bachmann stickers on his clothes and saying he couldn’t talk because of dental work, leads me to think this is indeed a dishonorable man.

For the longest time I have been telling my audience to vote their beliefs. Find a candidate who resonates with what you feel and your values and go vote for that person. Hunting around for someone who can win just because you want to be on the winning team shows us just how dirty some politics and politicians have become.

I normally write longer, but after this I need to go take a shower.

Happy New Year everyone.
