US Interior Plans to Issue Offshore Wind Leases in 2012

The U.S. Interior Department plans to auction this year leases for sites where developers may build wind farms in the waters off four eastern states.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said the agency anticipates it will award leases in 2012 for sites off the coasts of Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and New Jersey. Salazar spoke at a press conference in Baltimare today.
