Ever since the tea party movement began, the mainstream media have portrayed it as a menacing bunch of thugs. While some demonstrators’ signs have been offensive, no threatening comment has ever been documented.

Now it turns out that Rep. Gordon Hintz, a Democrat in the Wisconsin assembly, made a threatening remark to his colleague, Republican Rep. Michelle Litjens, but the mainstream media have totally ignored it.

During the searing debate over Gov. Scott Walker’s budget repair bill, Hintz shouted at Litjens, who owns a business that constructs and manages multi-family housing, “You’re f****** dead!”

“We had been on the floor talking about this budget repair bill for about 58 hours,” Litjens tells Newsmax. “And we took a procedural vote so that we couldn’t amend the bill anymore.”

At that point, “The Democrats kind of stood up and starting throwing a fit, and the people from the galleries were yelling,” Litjens says. “I was sitting in the back row behind all of the Democrats, and this particular gentleman — Gordon Hintz — started walking back and turned right to me and pointed quite closely to me and said you are expletive dead loudly.”

Litjens says she felt intimidated. Even before Hintz’s threatening comment, she was on edge.

“I sat in my chair with my coat on ready to run out the door as soon as we were done with the final vote because the tension in the room was so high and you could hear the protesters outside of the doors,” Litjens says.

“They were banging drums. They were yelling, and the whole thing was just very uncomfortable. We had to have police escorts just to leave the Capitol building,” Litjens  added.

When a vote was finally taken, “Rep. Chris Danou, another Democrat who was right in front of me, started throwing papers, and then he threw his water glass,” Litjens says. “He’s a former police officer, for goodness sakes.”

A radio talk show host subsequently e-mailed Litjens to ask for her comment. She confirmed the incident involving Hintz.

As the story unfolded, it turned out that on Feb. 10, police had issued Hintz a citation for going to Heavenly Touch Massage Parlor in Appleton and paying or offering to pay for touching the sexual parts of another. He has since pleaded no contest to the charge and paid a fine of $2,032.50. Meanwhile, 14 Wisconsin Senate Democrats were hiding out to try to block a vote to limit collective bargaining rights of state workers.

While local websites picked up the story of the threat, the mainstream media were silent after liberal commentators had spent weeks claiming Republicans were responsible for the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords because of their alleged uncivility and use of terms like “target” and “bulls-eye” in normal speech.

Three days after making the remark, Hintz issued a half-hearted apology on Feb. 28, saying he couldn’t confirm the exact quote. Only then did The Associated Press run a story, but besides Fox News, no national news outlet touched it.

“If the Republicans would have done that to a Democrat, it would have been national news,” Litjens says. “It’s a double standard.”

Indeed, as noted in my article "The Biggest Myths About Republicans," Democrats and the mainstream media have successfully painted Republicans as mean-spirited and intolerant. Suppressing the news about misconduct by Democrats is one way they do it.
